A New Chapter for Music Education in Madison
Madison, Alabama is set to welcome a new addition to its vibrant creative community. Mason Music, a well-established name in the world of music education, is preparing to open its first North Alabama location in the Huntsville-Madison area. This exciting development marks the company’s sixth studio and comes with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 9th.
Mason Music has built a reputation as Alabama’s largest music education company, with five locations across the Greater Birmingham area. Over the years, they have provided more than 400,000 music lessons to over 10,000 students. The new Madison studio is expected to continue this legacy of excellence and community engagement.
Founder Will Mason shared insights into the vision behind the business during an interview with 48 Now. He explained that the journey began when he started playing music at his local church. From there, he began working with children from the church, which eventually led to the creation of a brick-and-mortar store. “It just really snowballed based on the community’s interest,” Mason said. “There’s a real need for well-organized music lesson programs like Mason Music.”
Madison has long been on Mason Music’s radar due to its family-friendly environment, strong focus on education, and growing live music scene. The relationships formed with residents in the area further solidified the decision to open a new location here. “We believe we can continue to build community in the Madison area,” Mason added.
The grand opening event will take place at 243 Browns Ferry Rd, Suite 102, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including a bounce house, refreshments from PJ’s Coffee, live music from one of Mason Music’s Rock Band League bands, temporary tattoos, and a chance to tour the studios and meet teachers. There will also be games, prizes, and a grand prize raffle for a lifetime of free music lessons.
Inside the new space, visitors will find nine lesson rooms designed for guitar, piano, voice, and drum lessons, along with a comfortable lobby area. The design was carefully crafted with input from architects, engineers, and acoustical experts to ensure a soundproof learning environment. Construction is nearly complete, and Mason will officially cut the ribbon on Thursday, August 7th.
A key part of Mason Music’s mission is the Rock Band League, a program where students join a band, practice weekly with a coach, and perform at real music venues. This initiative fosters friendships and helps students grow as musicians. Mason described it as “the coolest thing” the company offers. Recent success stories include a student who performed on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, and several others who are excelling in their musical journeys.
In addition to the Rock Band League, Mason Music also runs the Mason Music Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2016 to support low-income families in the Birmingham downtown area. The foundation provides tuition assistance to 100 students, ensuring that music education remains accessible and equitable for all.
Mason Music is offering free trial lessons for those interested in exploring the program. Whether you're looking to spark a love of music in your child or reignite your own passion, the new Madison location is ready to welcome you.
The grand opening celebration will take place at Midtown Marketplace, and more information about Mason Music can be found on their website, Instagram, and Facebook pages. For those interested in hearing more about the company, the full 48 Now interview is available on the top of this page.
